Tips for Your Trip to the Ballpark

Spring is in full spring and today marks the official Openind Day for Major League Baseball. For those that will be visiting your local ball park to root on your favorite club, try to keep these few tips in mind:

Watch what you eat. Many stadiums offer some very interesting food choices, nachos, hot dogs, peanuts, Cracker Jacks, or whatever your local favorite is. While it may be ok to indulge every once in a while, keep in mind the amount of food that you’re taking in. Choose one special treat, then stick to water, fruits, veggies. This also works while watching the game at home. It’s easy to sit, watch the game, and mindlessly snack for 3 hours. A suggestion for controlling how much you eat, put the food in another room and watch how much you’re putting on your plate.

Mind your posture. How you sit during the game will affect your body and how you feel for the next few days or weeks to follow. Your hips and knees should make 90 degree angles while sitting. Focus on tilting your pelvis forward, pulling your bellybutton to your spine, shoulders down with your back and neck elongated.

Stand up for 10 Mintes every hour. Don’t sit for more than an hour. Make sure you stand up and walk around. This is no perfect posture, pillow or chair to be in for hours at a time, so get up to refill your drink, or make a trip to the restroom between innings.
